Today I would like to chat with you about some 2017 trends and inspiration that I am already seeing quite a bit with my new GORGEOUS Infinity brides. This is especially exciting for me to say today because (drumroll please) Infinity Events is officially booked up for 2017! (2018 brides, hurry and grab your date before we completely book up there too!)
Anyway, it's funny how each year trends are so popular, but I make it my duty to take a trend and still infuse it with my bride’s personality. I know I say this a lot… I MIGHT be a bit biased… but this is yet another reason why working with a planner for your big day is so important! The key is to take what's big for 2017 & make your wedding Timeless, Memorable & Infinite.
For this post, I would also like to highlight one of my favorite photographers in Memphis, 3eight Photography! (All of the example photos on this post are from 3eight Photography.) I have had the pleasure of working along side Josh and Aleah on several projects and am proud to say that they have become friends of mine too! Josh reached out to me first with a project that he needed an event designer to help with, & I have since been extremely impressed with his work ethic, style, turnaround time, professionalism, and client connectivity!
Talk about a photography team that makes you and your groom feel comfortable! These photo shoots can feel really staged at times, but the key to getting those perfect shots is for your photographer to help make you feel like it’s authentic and real… to capture each couple’s essence. 3eight Photography is definitely a recommended option from Infinity Events! I cannot sing their praises enough!
Trends to chat about :)
#1: Luscious Greens
Currently, I am obsessed! I love the concept of making huge luscious arrangements and using very little actual floral to do it. Talk about making a statement! #Swoon Especially if you are a bride who has fallen in love with a flower type that is on the more pricey side, using small amounts of that flower and filling in the blanks with gorgeous greens is a great way to go. As one Kamesha, of Ava Loren Design, would say, “add in some Precious Pops!”
The reason that this trend is catching like wildfire is because it looks so lavish! With that in mind, I do have 1 caution about the very popular trend. It is not “cheap”. Obviously using lots of fillers is less expensive than lots of the pricey and popular flowers that you see all over Pinterest, but it is not necessarily the most economical option out there. My advise is to go to your florist with an open mind, and ask their expertise!
#2: Keeping it Classy with Paper DIY
This is definitely another trend that I am loving! There are so many ways to add in personal details that scream the personality of the bride and groom by simple PAPER! Signs with quotes, tagging seats, paper flowers, paper backdrops… you name it!
Little paper signs, whether you choose to frame them or not, is such a fabulous and cheap way of portraying a couple’s personality! When people look at something at your wedding and say “Oh that is SO them!”
That means you won! #winning! I know I am biased, but working with a planner can absolutely help you figure out classy ways to incorporate your personality! I can only speak for myself with this next comment so CAUTION! My favorite couples to work with are those that want something funky added that expresses their personality! I am ALL FOR IT!
I also love the concept of tagging the reserved seats. <3 There are several super traditional things about weddings that I have seen dwindle away and change over time, but there are some very constant things! Those reserved seats on the front few rows is a great example... not giving her a proper seat is one way to tick off a grandma! Adding sweet little tags with a note to each person is such sweet way to make those special people feel even more so.
#3: Geometrically Delicious
This trend is something that I definitely see going in and out throughout the years, BUT while it’s here… I’ll take it! The funky shaped papers and terrariums just add so much to an otherwise very normal and simple set up. I really love working with pieces like this, and love adding them here and there in my home. :) However, one caution here…
Like I said, this is a trend that will definitely be going in and back out. Brides who are majorly interested in keeping your wedding timeless: This might not be the way to go… or at least go with it sparingly.
Like I mentioned earlier, 2018 brides, Bring it on! We are ready for you! Make sure to come and grab your date soon!
